GLA:D Canada® is an 8-week education and exercise program for those with stiff and/or painful knees and/or hips.or those with hip and/or knee osteoarthritis. Research from GLA:D® in Denmark shows participants report less pain, reduced use of painkillers, fewer individuals on sick leave, and being more physically active.

Based on the success of the program in Denmark, the GLA:D® education and exercise program for knee and hip OA is now being made available in Canada. The program is being launched in regions within Ontario with plans for expansion across Canada over the next 3 years.

GLA:D® provided remotely

During this time of managing COVID-19, rehabilitation clinics across Canada are limited in their ability to provide face to face treatment to their patients. With the requirement to socially isolate, many people are restricted in their ability to be physically active and are suffering from their symptoms related to their hip and knee osteoarthritis.

The GLA:D® program is an education and exercise program that promotes independence in physical activity. For many people, the program can be completed independently at home with supervision and direction from a qualified therapist. As such many of the GLA:D® trained clinicians are now providing the program remotely through visual technology, working with their patients through smartphones, tablets or laptops.
